Like any diet, there’s a right way and a wrong way to lose weight using HCG drops. Thousands of people will tell you how effective these drops are at helping you lose 10, 20 or even 50 pounds. However, if you don’t follow a few simple guidelines, you could end up wasting your time (and your money).

Determining BMI & What You Should Weigh

Worst of all, not following some basic Dos and Dont’s will leave you without weight loss and feeling demotivated. That’s why we’ve put together this list of the top 7 Dos and Don’ts for melting away fat on the HCG Diet. Keep reading to learn how you can guarantee your weight loss measurements are accurate, how to stay motivated, why a scale is not enough and more.

Do:

Have consistent weigh ins

Measuring at the same time every day will guarantee you results are consistent. In fact, if you don’t have your daily weigh-ins at the same time from day to day, you may find your results aren’t even reliable. It’s hard to track progress when your numbers aren’t usable!

Instead, try this: most people weigh themselves after they wake up in the morning and before breakfast. This makes your weigh-ins consistent, allows you to weigh yourself without having a full stomach (which can shave off a pound or two) and will get you motivated about another day of remarkable weight loss.

Keep a food journal

Tracking your food will make it easy to unlock the keys to your success. Having a stall? Look at your food journal to make sure you aren’t eating non-protocol approved foods. Of course, if you have a better than average week, you can also look to see what you were eating or doing differently and then simply repeat it. You can also make sure that you were eating enough calories every day (which, believe it or not, is actually a problem for people after the first week or so of taking HCG drops). Just like tracking your weight, tracking your weight is an essential part of success for any type of diet, especially the HCG Diet.

Measure inches as well as pounds

Are you only measuring your progress in pounds? You may be only getting half the story. By also using measuring using tape to track progress, you can see how inches are falling off your waistline. Some days, the number on the scale may not change much, but you will notice a big change in your waistline. Using multiple methods of keeping track of your progress will feel more rewarding and give accurate results as you diet.

Give yourself some variety

Finally, the last do is to give yourself some variety. Don’t just eat the same food every single day. You will get bored which makes it easier to cheat. Eating the same food every single meal may also cause a stall. Instead, take advantage of the many HCG recipes that are out there and give yourself some variety! There lots of delicious recipes you can try that are HCG approved and will actually make keeping the protocol lots of fun.

Don’t:

Have a freak out.

If you don’t lose weight in the first few days, or even on the first day, don’t freak out. We take a lot of calls from dieters who don’t see as much progress as they want right away. It’s okay. Give it a few days. Take a breath. Relax. You can do it!

Quit before giving it a try

Weight loss is a journey, not a quick trip. Give yourself some time to really try the diet. Don’t cheat! Instead, actually try the HCG Diet protocol step-for-step before throwing up your hands and saying, “It doesn’t work!” It’ll work if you give it a try and give it some time.

(Of course, if you have been staying exactly on protocol and haven’t lost weight for a week, call us at 1-877-485-1030 and talk to one of our diet coaches for help figuring out what’s going on.)

Break protocol–even if you think you have a better idea

The HCG Diet protocol has been developed and tested for decades. It’s been carefully reviewed in order to allow dieters to enjoy the most weight loss possible. What does that mean for you? If there were any shortcuts or ways to cheat, we’d tell you! The way to lose the most weight on the HCG Diet is to stay exactly on protocol. No cheating!

Finally, we have one more don’t we’d like to share with you: if you have any questions, problems or even just want someone to chat with about your diet, don’t hesitate to give us a call. We want you to lose weight! That’s why we’ve trained our diet coaches to help you with any problems you may encounter on the HCG Diet.

If you’re wondering if weight loss is possible on the HCG Diet–if it actually works–the truth is it does. Follow these Dos and Don’ts while you try the diet, and see how quickly they maximize your weight loss.

Hi Julie! Thank you for reaching out. We are sorry to hear about your sickness. As far as Phase 3 goes, we suggest eating 1500 per day for 3 weeks so that your body has time to adjust to its new weight. You will typically eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and 2-3 snacks throughout the day. During this period you must realize that sugars and carbohydrates are by far the most detrimental to your diet. No breads, potatoes, rice, pasta, sweets, etc. Eat healthy meals of meats, fruits, and veggies adding in good fats like olive oil, buts, diary, eggs, and avocados.

A big breakfast includes lots of fruit, veggies and protein. Just stay clear of sugars and high amount of carbs and diary.

Thanks for sharing this advice on taking HCG! I have been wanting to try this diet to shed a little bit of weight, and I want to do it right. That means I’ll need to buy a scale to make sure that I know where I’m at all the time. Hopefully that can also help me figure out what will help me lose the most weight.
